Located in Eagle Springs, NC, Sittin' Easy is the creation of Walter Harper who earned his master's degree in Industrial Arts and Product Design at N.C. State University. He taught Industrial Arts, and designed and made furniture for several companies before founding Sittin' Easy in 1978.

While researching the furniture market, Harper noticed that there were no new porch swings on the market which met his criteria of comfort and durability. The comfort of his furniture is the result of dozens of trial and error designs before coming up with just the right curvature using flexible yet strong slats. The results revolutionized the porch swing market where many failed attempts have been made at duplicating such innovation.

From the beginning, his research on durability took him to antique shops and museums where he found items lasting over 100 years in the weather were traditionally made of White Oak. Thus, from the onset, top grade kiln-dried White Oak has been the cornerstone of his company.

While new pieces are added to the line occasionally, the basic quality, durability and style remain the same so that customers can add to their collection through the years. Owners Walter and his wife Kim market Sittin' Easy furniture through grass roots methods which include: the web, retail stores, craft shows, catalogs, and distributors world wide.

For over a decade Solmate Socks has been designing and knitting stunning mismatched socks, hats, scarves, mittens and fingerless mittens. We have continuously demonstrated a commitment to protecting the environment, the health and safety of our employees, and the businesses and communities where we do business.

The Artist. Marianne Wakerlin, the Socklady is the founder and owner of Solmate Socks. The company is named after her mom, Sunny, who taught Marianne how to knit when she was nine years old. Marianne continued a life long enthusiasm for knitting, but it wasn't until she started knitting socks that her real passion was born.

Over the years Marianne knit over one hundred pairs of socks for family and friends. She then decided to turn her hobby into a business and in the year 2000 Solmate Socks was born. Her colorful and complex patterns are knit in the USA at a family owned knitting mill, hand finished and then mismatched with care.

The company is run in a small town in central Vermont, where the Socklady is surrounded and inspired by the woods, brook, gardens and hills of the countryside.

Locally Made. We are proud to create a product that is made in the U.S.A. The sock designing, knitting, and finishing final touches are completed at small, family-owned businesses in Vermont, North Carolina, and Oregon.

Eco Friendly. Our socks are knit from the ingenious repurposing of recycled cotton yarn. Using recycled yarns means that Solmate Socks decreases the amount of cotton waste sent to landfills. Our yarns also reduce the amount of water, land use, pesticides and herbicides used to grow new cotton fibers as well as eliminates the need for harmful chemicals to dye virgin cotton yarn.
