When Lloyd Walters first began selling furniture, he did so off the back of his truck at flea markets throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. American Craftsmanship and Quality have always been the primary ideas that drive Lloyd Walters and he has always strived to provide these qualities in the furniture and home goods he offers. Unhappy with the quality of furniture that his suppliers were providing him at the time and dismayed with the fact that the solid oak furniture they were producing was largely particle board with veneers or inferior soft woods, Lloyd decided he could do better himself.

With a resolve to provide solid wood furniture that meets his standards of quality, Lloyd rented time in a small woodworking shop in Binghamton, New York. There he began hand-crafting dining room tables from solid oak, that is: real Northern grown solid oak and never particle boards or faux veneers.

With that first solid oak table, Oak Street USA was born. Over time, Lloyd outgrew the back of his truck and opened a destination showroom in Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania. He expanded his offerings to the entire home and hired a local craftsmen from the Lehigh Valley to staff his new manufacturing shop in Allentown, Pennsylvania to support the showroom.

As the taste of homeowners has changed, so did Oak Street USA. To meet the demands of the modern homeowners' tastes, Lloyd added solid cheery and solid maple woods to his furniture offerings. In order to compliment this expanded selection of wood, Oak Street USA became Domestic Home Furnishings.

From a small beginning, Domestic Home Furnishings has grown into one of the few remaining furniture manufacturers that still manufactures its products of solid wood, in the United States, by Americans. Today, Domestic Home Furnishings quality, solid wood furniture can be found in homes and fine vacations spots throughout the United States.

Currently, Lloyd shows interested persons his furniture at his factory store in Allentown and is also glad to speak to you on the phone and in your home.

Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps are synonymous with Old World quality and time-honored simplicity, which can be traced back to the family's German-Jewish soapmaking tradition. Born in 1908 to a Jewish family that had been making soap since 1858, Emanuel Bronner was the third generation certified as a master soapmaker under the guild system of the time. In 1929, he brought his formulas for high-quality liquid and bar soaps to America, starting Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps in its current form in 1948.
Our soaps, renowned for their quality, versatility and eco-friendliness, enjoyed a small but loyal following in the early years. In the late 1960s, however, soap sales started to explode, due to the unsurpassed ecological quality combined with Emanuel Bronner's urgent message to realize our transcendent unity across religious and ethnic divides. Word-of-mouth soon made Dr. Bronner's the iconic soap of that era, and in the decades that followed the soaps spread into every health food store in the U.S. and then into the mainstream as well ? winning over fans from all walks of life on the way to becoming the number-one-selling brand of natural soaps in North America.
The 4th and 5th generations of the Bronner family who run the company today continue to make our unsurpassed soaps with care and integrity. 2008 marked both the 60th anniversary of Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps in America and the 150th anniversary of our family's first soapmaking activity in southern Germany.
Today, Dr. Bronner's continues its mission and commitment to building an engine for promoting and advancing positive social change. From pioneering USDA certified organic personal care products, to creating Fair Trade projects across the world that ensure fair and just treatment of farmers and workers, to creating a socially responsible workplace here in the U.S., we strive to honor our heritage with progressive business practices, while devoting profits to worthwhile causes and charities worldwide.

Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Emerson Creek Pottery artisans are continuing the American tradition of handmade pottery in a contemporary way. The property on which Emerson Creek Pottery sits was originally a 500-acre land grant from the King of England. In 1825, Silas Wade aquired the land and built his two room, and two story log cabin, now the home of Emerson Creek Pottery. To the north are the majestic Peaks of Otter, visible through the treetops in winter. The land rolls gently away from the house to the creek beds. More information about this historic home can be found in the Virginia Room of the Roanoke City Library, Roanoke, Virginia.
Emerson Creek Log Cabin Influenced by the energy of Early American cobalt decoration, owners Priscilla Palmer and Jim Leavitt founded Emerson Creek Pottery in 1977. Priscilla developed the unique technique of applying natural pigments to an absorbent glaze with a Japanese Sumi-e brush. The spontaneity of the brush stroke, combined with the accuracy of design yields our distinctively recognizable style. Priscilla's deep love of the natural world provides a multitude of organic designs for all of Emerson Creek's pottery.

Our handmade ceramics have been featured at Monticello, Mt. Vernon and the Smithsonian Institute, as well as in fine homes across America. We have had the pleasure of designing customized handcrafted pottery patterns for numerous clubs and organizations.

Emerson Creek Our handcrafted ceramics are formed of clay made onsite. Each piece is hand made, hand painted and fired in a gas kiln. Each pattern is a series of carefully planned strokes. No templates or stencils are used. The patterns are practiced and committed to memory. The artists paint the pattern again and again. Each piece is alike and yet different, like flowers in a field. We are currently featuring 13 different lines of ceramic pottery, including our beloved signature line - Field of Iris, a classic since 1977. All of our work is microwave and dishwasher safe, lead free and ovenproof.

MADE IN AMERICA

Ralph/Calvin/Tommy, the big boys, they're not who you think. Most of the things bearing their logos are made under license by companies you've never heard of like Li and Fung, PVH and Warnaco, who make garments as cheaply as possible on the other side of the globe.

Flint and Tinder is different. We're manufacturing greatness here - in the USA - in as transparent a way as possible.

BUILT TO LAST

We're not just making things in America, we're making things better. We stand behind our products. So keep an eye out out for frequent use of the words Satisfaction Guaranteed, or product specific promises--as with the 10-Year Hoodie, which comes with an entire decade of free mending (not that you'll necessarily need it).

It's all part of our Buy Less, Get More thinking. You're going to like it.

CHANGING THE GAME

We're all working really hard to make sure you're satisfied. We're going to bend over backwards to make things right, no matter what.

The plan is this: By raising expectations, eventually even the bigger brands will play by the same rules, or they'll be forced to go the way of the dinosaurs.

Either way, we win!

APRIL 2012

Did you know that 99% of the men's underwear sold in America comes from, well, places like China, Indonesia and Thailand? Flint and Tinder launched on Kickstarter with a pledge to change that, build a better product than you're used to and help revive the American cut and sew industry.

MAY 2012

5,578 people supported us in attempting to bring back high quality garment manufacturing by pre-purchasing $291,499 worth of underwear. Flint and Tinder becomes the best funded fashion Kickstarter to date. We could not be more appreciative.

OCT 2012

Flint and Tinder launches FlintAndTinderUSA.com website. Zappos' Tony Hsieh and Fred Mossler sign on as advisors. Esquire names Flint and Tinder one of the 10 Best New Online Men's Shopping Sites. Pretty cool, right?

MAR 2013

Flint and Tinder launches the 10-Year Hoodie, a premium sweatshirt designed for life, guaranteed for a decade and backed with FREE mending Kickstarter's first ever fashion project to raise more than $1 million dollars from 9,226 backers pre-buying more than 11,000 hoodies.

NOV 2013

Flint and Tinder fires up The Bluelace Project an attempt to give American manufacturing it's own yellow ribbon with the help of a lace unlike any other, manufactured by one of the just two domestic shoelace manufacturers still standing. 11,749 people lend a hand.
