Once upon a time, there was a store in Fort Worth, TX called KARMA. If you were a KARMA customer, many thanks. Opening that store (and running it from 2001 til 2007) was a dream come true. Unfortunately, the economy came crashing down and little sole proprietorships, like mine, didn't have much to fall back on. So the store had to close and I still miss it, and you, every single day....

...but that was then. As they say 'when a door closes, a window opens'. KARMA sold many things, from wall art, statues, cool jewelry and so much more. But, to be honest, my products--candles, scenting oils, soap, lip balm and more--were just too popular. Even after the store closed, customers found me and I soon was pouring just as quickly as before. So, rather than shutting down production...I kept on going, and moved online.

Jar Candles
Picture
Jar candles. Super scented, cause that's what you are buying candles for...to enhance your world. 11oz by volume. Brightly colored. Paraffin blend wax holds the maximum scent. The term 'triple scented' is meaningless (I've probably written a post on THAT somewhere) but if you want strong. Buy mine.
Wax Melts, Nuggets?
Picture
Super scented wax in a no burn format. Absolutely great for offices or where you just can't burn. Or, maybe, you just don't want too! No soot. No fuss. Just wonderful scent.
A few months later, in 2008, I learned about Etsy. I already had a website, but this was a larger pool of potential customers. Soon, I was shipping all over the US (international, too). Originally named Good Scents Bath Company? (GoodScents on Etsy), life was good.
But, before too long, after musing a bit, I decided to make another change. In 2009, after a lot of thought, Good Scents Bath Compamy? became
Coquette Bath & Home?.

The name pays a bit of homage to my French heritage, but also really identifies my products and my vision. After all, many products are 'good scents' but not all of them are fun, flirty and fabulous! With the addition of 'bath & home' it was clear that I intended to keep on with the candles that started it all, but was also going to keep creating new pampering goodies for personal care. The shop on Etsy was closed down (because 'back then' Etsy did not permit name changes on shops...thought they do now) and a new shop: CoquetteBath opened.

And life, though busy, was once again very very good.

And now, we're here. I get scolded by family for constantly changing my website, but as time moves on, my vision sharpens. I hope you find this new site even easier to shop. I welcome your comments. Check out the FAQ page to leave me a note. Thanks!

About me
Entrepreneur. Creative. Business person. Always doing 'something' from painting to sewing to home craft projects. I do own (and can use) power tools, so beware! (Laugh). Living in Texas since the '80's. Two kids. Two cats. Bachelor of Science in Management (Purdue University). There is a lot to me (including a few fat cells I don't really want) but this blurb gives you an idea of the woman behind the scenes.
The last photo in the montage at the top of the page is Ziggy. 2003-2013. The most amazing cat EVER. He is missed by all and will be forever in our hearts.

While the Dermalogica story begins in 1986, the force of change in the industry started in Los Angeles, circa 1983. Jane Wurwand, a tenured, United Kingdom-trained skin therapist new to the American esthetician industry, recognized that continuing skin and body therapy education was practically non-existent in the United States. While her training had been comprehensive and serious, US students entered the industry licensed yet under-trained, and worse, under-respected.

Jane put her education in action, opening a small classroom in Marina del Rey, California under the name The International Dermal Institute (IDI). She invited licensed skin therapists to get hands-on with the postgraduate training so critical to making them competitive in the business. Today, IDI is considered the international gold-standard for postgraduate skin and body therapy training with 37 locations worldwide.

dermalogica product

we're not pretty

(Or beautiful. Or pampering. Or luxury.) We're far too interested in guiding you to a new level of skin health fitness! So, while our packaging may not be designed to color-coordinate with your bathroom, you can always be sure that we use ingredients that we know will work ? our confidence founded by skin care professionals worldwide who use our products in their treatment rooms every day because they get results.

education first

dermalogica is born

While teaching at IDI, it didn't take long for Jane to realize no product line embraced her belief of skin health as opposed to beauty, so she developed her own. And in 1986, Dermalogica was born. The vision was clear ? a product line free of common irritants and ingredients that could cause breakouts (including lanolin, SD alcohol, mineral oil, artificial colors and fragrances) that would improve skin health, and were only available from qualified skin care professionals trained at The International Dermal Institute.

Then, as now, all our products are manufactured in the USA, we have never taken part in animal testing, and Dermalogica is sold only where professional consultation and professional treatments are performed by professional skin therapists.

Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps are synonymous with Old World quality and time-honored simplicity, which can be traced back to the family's German-Jewish soapmaking tradition. Born in 1908 to a Jewish family that had been making soap since 1858, Emanuel Bronner was the third generation certified as a master soapmaker under the guild system of the time. In 1929, he brought his formulas for high-quality liquid and bar soaps to America, starting Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps in its current form in 1948.
Our soaps, renowned for their quality, versatility and eco-friendliness, enjoyed a small but loyal following in the early years. In the late 1960s, however, soap sales started to explode, due to the unsurpassed ecological quality combined with Emanuel Bronner's urgent message to realize our transcendent unity across religious and ethnic divides. Word-of-mouth soon made Dr. Bronner's the iconic soap of that era, and in the decades that followed the soaps spread into every health food store in the U.S. and then into the mainstream as well ? winning over fans from all walks of life on the way to becoming the number-one-selling brand of natural soaps in North America.
The 4th and 5th generations of the Bronner family who run the company today continue to make our unsurpassed soaps with care and integrity. 2008 marked both the 60th anniversary of Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps in America and the 150th anniversary of our family's first soapmaking activity in southern Germany.
Today, Dr. Bronner's continues its mission and commitment to building an engine for promoting and advancing positive social change. From pioneering USDA certified organic personal care products, to creating Fair Trade projects across the world that ensure fair and just treatment of farmers and workers, to creating a socially responsible workplace here in the U.S., we strive to honor our heritage with progressive business practices, while devoting profits to worthwhile causes and charities worldwide.
