Here you will find guitar straps handcrafted with love and care. I select only the finest hides available from the best tanneries, Wickett & Craig being my favorite. I have no employees, I craft each strap personally. That way I can be sure you get my very best each and every time.
Some years backI made some big life changes, including getting married in '05, and then moving to Pennsylvania with my wonderful wife Ronda in July of '06, leaving N.J. behind. We did that so we would have enough room to take in my 90 year old mom and have her live with us.
I was in need of finding a way to generate some income from home, so that I could be around when she needs help. My musician friends' suggestions of making straps full time started to sound like a great idea. I started working with leather in 1971, selling guitar straps, belts, bags, hats, etc. throughout New Hampshire. I also spent a summer in the old French Quarter of Montreal making custom fitted sandals at an artisan's market.

I've had the pleasure of making straps not only for players from all across the U.S.A. but from all around the globe as well.

I hope to have the pleasure of making one for you ~

My mother passed away in 2012 and Ronda and I are relocating to the Northern Neck of Virginia, our new home and the new home of Brookwood Leather : )

RETURN PROCEDURE
If you wish to return an item, start by filling out the RMA RETURN FORM. However, before you start, be sure to review the TROUBLESHOOTING guide to verify that you have a real problem. Thoroughly check everything. Over 25% of our returns are unnecessary because the product was not understood or operated correctly. Sometimes it's as simple as a switch in the wrong place or an adjustment on a guitar. If it's determined the product does need servicing, proceed with the RMA RETURN form printing a copy for yourself and include one with your package. Be sure to fill out the Problem Description on the form and include a copy of Proof of Purchase (invoice) if under warranty. If you do not have a copy of your original invoice, email requestinvoice@carvin.com to obtain a copy. Be sure to provide complete details on the invoice you need (your name, address, product, etc).
a)
Be sure to properly pack your return. It's recommended that you save the original carton as it provides the best protection. Guitars have been received with broken necks and cabinet with big gouges caused by improper packing. CARVIN or the shipping company is not responsible for damage resulting from improper packing.
b)
If you have a combo bass or guitar amp, you can remove and return just the chassis saving shipping cost and possible damage to the cabinet. If it's a tube chassis, remove the tubes, rap individually and carefully place into your package. Be sure the chassis is not loose in the carton. No Service or Exchanges available on these products.
c)
Repairs normally take two weeks after received. If there is a required payment, or problem that's not covered under warranty, you will be contacted by email. Prior to shipping, all repairs must be paid for in full. You are responsibly for all shipping charges. However, Carvin will pay shipping both ways for the first 90 days after the purchase providing it's a bona fide failure.
d)
All repairs are warranted for 90 days against the same problem.
e)
All items are shipped UPS Ground unless other arrangements have been made.
f)
An email will be sent to acknowledge the receipt of your return.

Customers who are in need of warranty repair service by Carvin should note the following shipping policies and procedures:

1. For gear requiring warranty service within 30 days of the original invoice date, Carvin will issue a call tag for UPS to pick up the equipment at Carvin's expense. Carvin will also pay the return shipping to the customer.

2. For equipment requiring warranty service work beyond 30 days of the original invoice date of the item, the customer is responsible for shipping of the item to the Carvin factory in San Diego, California. Shipping insurance is strongly recommended, as Carvin will not be held responsible for damages incurred in transit. If the item is being returned for warranty service less than one year from the original invoice date, Carvin will pay for return shipping to the customer (ground).

3. For all equipment requiring warranty service or other work beyond one year from the original invoice date, the customer is responsible for all shipping charges both to and from the factory.

If you are returning a product for any reason other than service/repair, such as an item damaged in shipment or the wrong item shipped, please download and print the RMA form, and include it with your return shipment to speed processing.

ITEMS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR RETURN
a)
SPEAKER ENCLOSURES are not recommended for returning because of the potential damage to the enclosure and the high cost of shipping. If it's a bad component, follow the TROUBLE SHOOTING guide for removal. With help, determine the defective component (active power amp, speaker, horn driver, crossover, etc). These components have connectors for easy removal without soldering. In some cases it may only be an input jack that is defective, which if under warranty will be replaced at no charge upon receiving the defective connector, or go to REPLACEMENT PARTS to purchase on-line.
b)
Do not return electronics that are older than 5 years, except if you are exchanging the chassis in our EXCHANGE PROGRAM. For older units, please use the SCHEMATICS and REPLACEMENT PARTS for repair.
c)
Non-serviceable items: cables, microphone, wireless products or other manufactures' products.
d)
CARVIN products outside the USA are not accepted for repair. Consult your local dealer.

RETURNS ARE TO BE SENT PREPAID TO: CARVIN, 12340 WORLD TRADE DRIVE, SAN DIEGO, CA 92128
CARVIN STORES

For most of his life, woodworking has been a passion for CMB founder Lo Gordon. In 1993 Lo and his wife Mary sold their custom wooden garage door business and moved to Brevard, NC to pursue their dream of opening a music store and starting a business making open-back banjos. At the time of the move, Lo had been playing banjo for a number of years and had made several banjos for himself.

Having moved to North Carolina, Lo and Mary opened their music store Celestial Mountain Music in downtown Brevard, and started Cedar Mountain Banjos in 1996. In the midst of this transition, they continued to perform in their family band with sons Tim and Matt Gardner. Over the years, the music store became a central hub for the vibrant local music scene. In 2013 Celestial Mountain Music changed ownership and is now Southern Comfort Records, and continues to offer top-notch instruction and instrument repairs in the same historic downtown location.

Meanwhile, open-back banjo players and aficianados around the globe began to take notice of the fine artisanship and design of Cedar Mountain's offerings. Today notable players such as Sheila Kay Adams, David Holt, Mary Z. Cox, Hilary Dirlam, Darin Gentry, Diane Jones, Ernie Williams, Al Petteway and Linda Williams play Cedar Mountain banjos.

In 2005 Lo's son Tim Gardner, a graduate of NC State's School of Forestry, started with Cedar Mountain Banjos after working several years as a timber framer and house carpenter. Having built over 300 banjos since 2005, he continues to manage the company, focus on new concepts, and maintain CMB as an industry leader for fine design, craftsmanship, and customer service. In September 2013, Tim took over ownership of CMB and moved the workshop to the new Mills River location just outside of Brevard.

Tim is an in-demand acoustic musician, producer, teacher and recording artist around the Asheville-Brevard area. For more information about Tim's musical projects please visit coyoteridgeaudio.com.

Bill Collings moved from Ohio to Houston, Texas in the mid-1970s. More interested in guitars and engineering than in medical school, he took a job at a machine shop and began building guitars on his kitchen table with just a few hand tools. Coming from a family of engineers, Bill's experience as a craftsman and his natural curiosity equipped him to experiment and quickly improve his craft. Before long his instruments were in the hands of local talents Rick Gordon and Lyle Lovett, which led more Texas players to seek out Bill for custom guitars. After building about fifty guitars and a few banjos in Houston, he headed west to pursue lutherie in southern California. Along the way, he befriended Austin luthiers Tom Ellis and Mike Stevens. Having found like-minded instrument makers, Bill decided to stay and share space in Tom's shop. By the mid-1980s, Bill was building flattop and archtop acoustic guitars in his own small shop. His reputation for outstanding quality and meticulous attention to detail quickly spread. In 1989, he rented a 1,000-square-foot space and hired two helpers.

Bill Collings
That same year, George Gruhn, the acclaimed collector and purveyor of vintage fretted instruments and owner of Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, asked Bill to make 24 custom Gruhn guitars, giving the Austin luthier national exposure. In the spring of 1992, Bill moved his guitar-making operation into a 3,200-square-foot feed store he purchased on the outskirts of Austin. By this time musicians such as Pete Townshend, Joni Mitchell and Brian May were playing Collings instruments and demand continued to grow. The existing shop tripled in size and its staff increased to 50 full-time employees. By 2005, Bill broke ground for a new 27,000-square-foot shop featuring CNC technology that modernized machining processes and made parts production more consistent, accurate and safe. As the business grew and processes were refined, one thing remained the same: Bill Collings' commitment to build the finest stringed instruments available.

Fueled by his fascination with the construction and design of a variety of instruments, Bill soon began crafting more than just acoustic guitars. In 1999, he introduced the first Collings mandolins, which like his guitars, quickly set new standards for the industry. In 2006 his interest in carved top instruments led him to introduce a line of electric guitars that players quickly embraced because of the instruments' exceptional craftsmanship and tone. In 2009, with a nod to the tradition of some other high-end acoustic guitar makers, Bill created a line of concert and tenor ukuleles that have been hugely popular with professional and hobbyist players alike.

For the past 30 years, Collings Guitars have been the choice of musicians who seek the finest handmade instruments available. You owe it to yourself to try a Collings.
