Our Unusual Natural Jewelry Designs Make Unique Green Gifts!
~ This is your place for unique Holiday gift ideas ~

Saverine Creek Heirlooms designs natural organic jewelry that enhances your wardrobe and personality! Instead of the usual beaded necklaces and earrings, our creations make unique gifts made from rare antique heirloom seeds. Our unusual brooches, necklaces, pendants, earrings, and bracelets are individually handcrafted from organic heirloom seeds that are grown and hand-harvested on our centennial farm. Giving our handcrafted custom designed jewelry as eco conscious green gifts helps preserve and protect a part of our world's agricultural heritage. When you wear one of our creations, not only will you feel beautiful ? you will help draw attention to the varieties of heirloom beans in danger of being lost forever.

Each piece is handcrafted so, because every bean and kernel of corn is unique, each piece of jewelry has its own one-of-a-kind combination. These are products made in the USA ? Michigan made gifts inspired by nature.

Heirloom dry beans and corn are beautiful natural treasures ? genetically untouched seed passed down from generation to generation. Our jewelry is made from these ancient strains once propagated for their life-sustaining nutritional properties. Now rare, we help keep these strains alive through cultivation and by incorporating these beautiful gems of the soil into unique handmade artisan jewelry.

Located in Michigan's east central Lower Peninsula, our Michigan made jewelry has, until recently, been available to only limited geographical areas, but now it's available to you online! Feel beautiful, be beautiful ? give a handmade, artisan designed natural jewelry gift to yourself or someone you love ? today!

MY MANTRA: When designing a new piece of jewelry I always am envisioning the wearer. When will she wear this? Why will she wear this? My belief when it comes to accessorizing with South Paw Studios jewelry is you never need an excuse. Don't save it in your jewelry box, don't pull it out only for date night? wear it now. Don't wait for a special occasion? Because you are you and that is what makes it special enough to wear today and everyday.

The History of South Paw Studios:

Growing up in a home with both artistic and creative parents, it was a given that it was in my DNA to become an artist. As a small child and through out my teenage years, I dabbled in everything from ceramics, batiking, silk dying, too watercolor, sewing and photography, but it was jewelry design where I found a good niche, although my love for photography is a close second.

south paw studios jewelryMy passion for jewelry design started in 1997 when my father, a glass blower and business owner, gave me a book on jewelry making. I started crafting little treasures for my friends and family, and slowly things started to sell. It was then that I knew I was onto something.

In 2001 I decided to take a chance and created South Paw Studios?. Thanks to an exceptionally encouraging husband and loving family I was able to quit my day job to focus my attention 100% to collection design.

It was a dream come true - and still is. Now I have been in the jewelry business almost 16 years and counting. I am mainly self taught but did study basic metal-smithing through the Toledo Museum of Art. Over the years my business has grown to be represented in fine galleries and boutiques. I am continuously evolving and stay up to date on the latest trends, newest color palette combinations, and finest materials available in the industry.

As a supporter of handmade, I have been crafting and making things with my hands since childhood. I began making jewelry over 10 years ago and ssd jewelry was established in 2003.
One of the biggest enjoyments of my craft is experimenting and trying new things. I am a self-taught jewelry artist and work mostly with metals, specializing in basemetal etching, stamping, and homemade patinas. Reduce, reuse and recycle?..this mentality is a huge inspiration to me! I like to incorporate vintage, up-cycled materials, reclaimed metals and organic materials such as repurposed leather, wood, and natural fibers into my work whenever I can.
I also use homemade patina recipes on my pieces to add unique colors and diversity to my collection?these recipes are free of harsh chemicals and are eco-friendly. In my work, I strive to achieve uniqueness using recycled materials, positive words, and indie flare. My goal is that my jewelry will connect with someone?visually and emotionally and that my production process will leave a small of a footprint environmentally as possible.
