William Rees has been crafting the finest quality of instruments since 1972. Rees Harps started in a garage out side of Yosemite State Park in California. William's harps quickly became popular for their natural beauty, great sound, dynamic volume and light weight. Rees Harps became so popular in the midwest that the Rees family moved from California to the quaint town of Rising Sun, Indiana. Rees Harps is now known worldwide and played by grammy winning musicians. This tiny, family continues to grow and now has over 40 years of experience. Rees Harps offers a lifetime warranty on their harps, and the only harp company to do so. Rees Harps will remain a vibrant lutherie for generations to come.

Following in the sawdust of great luthiers, William Rees has been crafting instruments since 1972, from harps to electric guitars, to dulcimers to lutes and everything in between. A biologist by training, William appreciates the natural beauty and voices in woods and instruments while constantly seeking to understand both within a scientific methodology. During his earliest years of building instruments, he traveled to various music archives and libraries in an effort to understand what he could of luthiers who had gone before. Additionally, William imposed upon the gracious nature of of numerous established luthiers by traveling to their shops for lengthy visits. William is also an accomplished, award-winning multi-instrumentalist who has been teaching and playing professionally since 1970. His first-hand experience, having played for audiences numbering from 4 to 7,000, sets him apart in his understanding of the demands placed upon stringed instruments by professional musicians and discriminating audience members alike. The light of William's life is his sweet goldendoodle, Eleanor, who accompanies William to work everyday.
