Decades ago, German settlers brought their favorite food staple, the bretzel, to Pennsylvania. In 1888, we started our first storefront bakery in Lancaster, where H.K. Anderson took part in building the tradition of the American pretzel snack - twisting every one by hand and baking them to golden perfection in our brick ovens.
We've since outgrown that little brick bakery, but we're still making quality snacks for everyone with the same handmade care that went into our first pretzels. Like H.K. Each ounce of Honeysuckle Gelato and Sorbet is made from scratch right here in Atlanta using the finest and freshest ingredients. Our dairy arrives fresh from small Georgia farms, and we use local farmers markets to supply us with high quality ingredients. Whenever an ingredient is not available locally we search the globe in order to bring the most unique and delicious flavors to our customers such as Sri Lankan cinnamon. Our sorbets are made with whole fruits and prepped in our kitchen.
Our wide range of artisanal treats will surely surpass your expectations. Whether you indulge in a cup of our hand-scooped gelato flavors such as honey lavender or sea-salted caramel, or try one of our deliciously refreshing sorbets like watermelon or mango-peach, we assure you that Honeysuckle's line of frozen desserts is the perfect ending to any meal.
Our Story
In the Summer of 2009, I talked my way into a dream job, making gelato under the tutelage of Jon Snyder, a legend in the business and owner of Il Laboratorio del Gelato. The lab was a 500-square-foot madhouse that supplied the absolute finest product to hundreds of the top restaurants in New York City.
Each time I came back to Atlanta, I brought as much gelato as I could pack so my friends and family could taste some of our delightful creations. The more I brought home, the less I could keep up with the requests and before long I realized something had to be done. Every visit, I began making gelato in my parents' kitchen. A true southern boy, I could not resist the temptation to play around with the flavors and dessert concepts unique to the South. The response I received was overwhelming, not only were people excited, they felt challenged to offer up unique flavor concepts, which only increased demand.
A casual conversation with a long-time friend, and then another, was all it took to put everything in motion. Since then, Wes, Khatera and I have honed our vision for Honeysuckle Gelato and can proudly say that we now offer the South exactly what we envisioned?an ice cream worthy of its decadent culinary roots.

Hook to Cook Gourmet Foods, Inc. is a Michigan Corporation owned and operated by a very talented couple named Mark and Debbie Hagendorff. The Hagendorffs have been married and business partners for over 30 years.
Mark and Debbie began taking guests out for day fishing charters and provide a gourmet lunch for the guests with the fresh fish just caught, hence the name Hook to Cook was created. The Hagendorffs would prepare the pan fried fish with their own special recipe fry mixes, made with only the finest ingredients. Charter customers were so elated with the flavor and the light and crispy texture of these fish that many of them encouraged the Hagendorffs to bring their recipes to market. After a year of working closely with a food scientist the Hagendorffs finally had their recipe perfected. It took another year to find a co-packaging company. The Hagendorffs developed the name, logo and the look and feel of the packages, thus Hook to Cook Gourmet Foods, Inc. was formed.
Hook to Cook products are available in finer markets in the Metro Detroit area with it's first sale in Nino Salvaggio's in May, 2005. The Hook to Cook Gourmet Foods product line has rapidly expanded to 4 products with several more being in the developmental stage. A team of cooking demonstrators can usually be found in several stores in the area on weekends cooking up delicious samples of coconut shrimp or tilapia along with light & crispy vegetables or chicken, all featuring the Hook to Cook gourmet coatings.
The current product line consists of the following:
Hook to Cook Premium Coconut Coating: a superior coating with the sweet exotic tropical flavor of real coconut blended with the finest flours, herbs, and spices, to make any entr?e fry up crisp, crunchy, and delicious with the excitement of the islands.
Hook to Cook Premium Light & Crispy coating: an excellent coating that chefs around the world strive for: seals in juices, has a light and crisp texture, is golden in color and creates a delicious enhanced flavor. To achieve this spectacular result, we have blended the highest quality flours, herbs, spices and special bread crumbs.
Hook to Cook Premium Pre-Dip Coating: pre-dip makes a superior adhesion batter forming an intermediate binding layer that produces a healthier entr?e by preventing oil/fat absorption. Pre-Dip also seals in juices/moisture and nutrients, increases adhesion, crispness and prevents blow off during frying. Pre-Dip will also help food stay crisp longer when kept warm or on the table and with it's superb blend of flours and spices Pre-Dip will enhance the flavors of any additional coatings giving you the results of a professional chef. In our household, Jack Rudy, our great-grandfather, was often the topic of conversation, his life was used as a barometer for what it meant to be a modern Southern gentleman. Below are some of our favorite stories:
Jack Rudy was many things. He was a pilot who illegally ?ew his plane under the Ohio River Bridge (on a dare), an inventor who created a mechanical device for pharmacists to count pills, and a craftsman who once built a houseboat out of an old city bus. After serving as an aircraft mechanic in WWII, he spent his working life as an engineer. He read Popular Mechanics and National Geographic cover to cover ? a curious type who made his own bullets, and shot them into a dirt wall he constructed in his basement. In addition to being a ?marvelous' dancer, he LOVED to entertain and was known to overindulge in drink, smoke, and his wife's gourmet cooking.
