In December of 1939, Hyman Gulker pawned his pocket watch and gave $50 to his son-in-law Israel and daughter Pearl Stern. That was the beginning of Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Company, that was the beginning of our AMERICAN DREAM. Prior to starting METRO, Israel worked for a number of major floor care companies, selling vacuum cleaners door to door. He was such a great salesman, the president of the last company he worked for offered him $100 to come back to work for him. Israel's wife Pearl, said nothing doing, we're on our own now!

MetroSince 1939, the Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Co., Inc. has evolved into a multidivisional corporation. From a small retail store front in the Bronx, NY, rebuilding and selling vacuum cleaners. Metro is now a diversified multi-unit, manufacturing facility, producing amongst other products, Data-Vac Computer Cleaning Systems to Air Force Dog Dryers.

The early years for Metropolitan were solely devoted to vacuum cleaners. Metro was totally involved in the distribution and retailing of vacuum cleaners. During the period of years, from 1946 through 1949, the main core of Metro's business was the reconditioning and sale of vacuum cleaners to retail specialty stores, 5 & Dime and mail order houses.

In 1951 Jules Stern, son of Israel and Pearl, joined the business on a full-time basis. Between 1957 and 1970 Metro introduced three innovative industry firsts: In 1957, a popularly priced, 110-volt handheld vacuum cleaner. In 1964 the first 12-volt automotive hand held vacuum cleaner that plugged into the cigarette lighter outlet of cars. With the introduction of these two overwhelmingly successful products, demand outstripped production capabilities and a move to larger quarters was necessary. In 1968 Metro moved into its own 32,000 square foot building in Suffern, NY. In 1970 Metro introduced another industry first, the Metro Duo-Volt, the world's first and still only dual voltage (110V-12V) hand held vacuum cleaner, designed to work in the home and in the car.
In 1974, Kenneth Stern, the eldest son of Jules, joined Metro, adding a third generation of Sterns to the family business. Through the seventies and into the eighties Metro introduced many different models of vacuum cleaners from compact powerful canisters to full size vacuum cleaners. It was during this time that Metro introduced DATAVAC.

MetroIn the eighties, Metro aggressively began to diversify into new and different industries. David Stern, Jules' youngest son, entered the company on a full-time basis in 1984. David spearheaded the introduction of AIR FORCE pet dryers. By January of 1989, Metro's Air Force Pet Grooming Dryer Division, was catapulted to the top of the pet dryer industry and now has distribution throughout the world. Under the keen eyes of Jules, President, Kenneth, Vice-President of National Sales and David, Vice-President of Marketing, many new and different markets have been opened for Metro products.

Metro is now a major factor in the computer/office product industry with Metro Data-Vac Computer Cleaning Systems. Data-Vac Computer Cleaning Systems are designed to avoid costly downtime. Ever so important, is the cleanup and maintenance of computers, printers, laser printers and copiers.

2001 proved to be extraordinary for Metro for a number of reasons, Continuous growth of the Data Vac division, Metro's Magic Air Division which markets high volume pumps and inflator/deflators to the marine, camping and sporting goods industries. Magic Air pumps are also used to inflate emergency inflatable shelters for medical and decontamination purposes. Metro is concentrating on expanding all of these diverse product categories with the introduction of new products in each of their divisions.

Metro entered the motorcycle industry in April, 2002, with the Air Force Blaster Motorcycle Dryer. The Metro Air Force Blaster motorcycle dryer was specifically designed for cleaning and drying motorcycles with dry, filtered warm air (about 20-25 degrees above ambient temperature). The Metro Air Force Blaster will cut cleaning time by 80%. Five to seven minutes is all it takes to quickly and effectively dry motorcycles. The Blaster is the hottest new motorcycle care product to come out in decades and is completely safe for all paint and chrome finishes.

From 2002 through 2007 we continued to expand our presence, product lines and market penetration into the various markets we serve. As the rest of the world economies expanded so did we.

MetroIn the 4th quarter of 2008, Metropolitan Vacuum introduced the DataVac Electric Duster, a safe, green alternative to controversial and potentially dangerous canned-air dusting products. DataVac Electric Duster is certainly safer and more environmentally friendly than canned air dusters but the extraordinary cost savings, superior cleaning performance and greater versatility over the throwaway cans have caused sales to takeoff. Canned air is also misused by teenagers to get high through huffing which has caused countless deaths. The ED-500 is perfectly safe and Blows clean, dry, filtered air safe for all computer/electronic equipment, printers, copiers, fax machines, digital cameras, etc. Condensation-free it contains no dangerous propellants.

Additionally, in 2008, we entered the automotive industry with a full line of car vacuum cleaners from the Metropolitan 500 (500 watt hand held) to the JUMBO VAC N BLO wall mounted garage vacuum cleaner. We also introduced a line of car dryers which will completely dry an entire full size car in 15 minutes when the MASTER BLASTER is used. Both product lines are targeting detailers and the automotive enthusiast world wide.

2009 marked our 70th year anniversary in business which is a major milestone in this day and age. About 70 per cent of family businesses never make it to the second generation, according to a recent Grant Thornton research study. A stunning 90 per cent of family companies go bust before a third generation can take over the management of the firm. So with three generations of Stern management we are bucking the trend, manufacturing products in the USA and continuing to grow in a very chaotic and unsettled economy.

In September of 2010, three young entrepreneurs from Minnesota approached Metro with a new concept for a T-ball baseball/tennis training tool. The new Hit Zone Air-Suspension Tee was developed by a former Minnesota Twins slugger to make tee practice, more fun and a lot more effective. Hit Zone is a great way to improve any player's swing! Hit Zone eliminates tee shyness which causes players to swing high to avoid accidentally damaging the tee. With Hit Zone, if a player hits the patented fabric nozzle, the bat or racket passes right through with no damage and the reinforced fabric nozzle pops back up instantly. After developing a product line for the trio and manufacturing it for them, we liked it so much we bought the company. In April of 2012, the HIT ZONE division was created and incorporated into METRO. The acquisition of HIT ZONE SPORTS has brought us into a whole new, huge market of baseball and tennis accessories, Jules explained.

It is available in Baseball & Tennis Models. Please visit hitzonesports.com for more information.

Each and every year, I'm so very proud of what we have accomplished over the last 7 plus decades, explained Jules, President and CEO. It is very gratifying to produce quality products right here in the USA that actually work and are durable. We will continue to innovate and introduce new products into the markets we serve and carry on the tradition that my parents (Israel and Pearl) started in 1939!

As a result of their effort to locate products (many of which were not easy to find at that time) the Wittgens family decided to open their own allergy products business. What began first as a local effort to make products available to allergy sufferers quickly developed into a direct mail company serving the Southeast and then the entire nation. Today, more than 10,000 doctors around the country have sent their patients to National Allergy for products to reduce indoor allergens improve indoor air quality and help you breathe a sigh of relief. We think you'll notice a refreshing difference doing business with us.

Patient Support
In any business customer satisfaction is the key to success. Businesses grow because customers are satisfied. National Allergy has two customers, the ultimate purchaser of our products and the physician who recommends us. Our goal, at which we have been successful, is for the patient to be so satisfied with our products and services that the physician hears only good reports. So how do we do it?

Highly trained and very experienced Customer Service Representatives
CSRs are salaried, callers aren't rushed or pressured to make a purchase
Continual training on both products and health conditions

A focus on products appropriate for the patient's diagnosis

Physician Partnership
With over 10,000 referring physicians and literally hundreds of thousands of patient referrals from them, we know what it means to partner with doctors. Some of the ways that partnership is exemplified include our support and attendance at annual doctor meetings, advertising in their professional journal, our willingness to visit offices to perform staff training, and our indigent patient program. Over the years, we have donated thousands of encasings to patients who are most in need. Looking ahead, National Allergy will continue to be a partner physicians can trust as we work together toward the goal of improved patient outcomes.

Physician Services
In our many years of working with physicians and their staff, we have tried to listen to their requests for services and information which would hopefully increase patient compliance for recommended environmental controls. Our mutual goal has been, and remains, for our products to enhance overall effectiveness of patient treatment as prescribed by the physician. In responding to thousands of doctors, the following items and services are being provided free of charge for doctor's offices that recommend National Allergy to their patients:

Patient product literature
Educational literature
Bedroom allergen avoidance posters
Swatches of encasing fabrics
Online physician services
Sample pillow encasings
Testing & Evaluation
Making claims about a product's effectiveness is easy?knowing the claim is accurate is not quite as easy. At National Allergy, we believe we owe every referring physician and every customer the comfort of knowing that our claims can be relied upon. We have our own in-house testing equipment, including particle counters for testing air cleaners, vacuum cleaners and filtration products. In addition, we use recognized independent testing laboratories to test the effectiveness of our encasings and other products. In short, we take every step possible to try to be certain our products perform as advertised.

Commercial & Wholesale Division
National Allergy provides allergy, asthma and sinus relief products to a variety of users in addition to physician referred patients. Numerous state and federal institutions, hospitals, etc. count on National Allergy Supply for products to use in their operations. There are also national and international retailers who purchase our products for resale. Our Commercial Account Executive and staff work exclusively with these commercial customers.

Manufacturing
Made in America, by company employees! That's right. While most sewers are going off shore, all of our encasings are made in our own sewing plant in North Georgia. Not only does this allow us to contribute to the American economy, but it also allows us to have total control over production. We have special processes to be sure our encasings, including seams and zippers, don't leak! And we thoroughly inspect every single encasing we make. Most manufacturers inspect random samples, but we decided that was not good enough for our customers. Our goal is to make the best encasings in the world. And when we do, we begin looking for ways to make them even better!

The Quality Process

Skilled operators, superior fabrics, the right equipment and careful inspection are all components of excellent quality. At National Allergy Supply, we not only have all these components, but we also have the extra motivation of Employee Ownership. We think this is a winning combination.

Training
Surveys indicate that our satisfied customers are the result of several things: prompt answering of the telephone (usually by a live person), friendly, knowledgeable Customer Service Representatives, quick, accurate shipment of products ordered, a user-friendly web site, and unbelievably courteous and prompt resolutions to problems which do occasionally arise. These things do not happen without commitment and constant training. We have both! CSR's receive about one month's training in the medical aspects of allergy, asthma and sinus problems along with product training before they are ever allowed to consult with a patient. Then they receive regular supplemental training throughout their employment. Our warehouse associates are trained in products so that the right item gets in the right box. The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, along with other material, is a regular part of our Training Manager's reading and we make every effort to keep all of our associates up to date on what's happening in the allergy world. We believe we have the best-trained employees in the business.

Fulfillment/Shipping
With a large assortment of inventory in a temperature and humidity controlled warehouse space, National Allergy is committed to serving our customers with excellence. We very seldom have a back ordered item and most weekday orders received by 1:00PM Eastern Time are shipped that same day. How do we do it? Commitment on the part of our owner associates who fulfill our orders. They truly treat each order just as they would if they were the one to be receiving the package. Again, our customer surveys indicate that the order fulfillment team's commitment pays off.

Patient Product Flyers - Asthma/Allergy Relief Products Physicians Know Us By Our Product Flyers, Patients Trust Us For Our Caring Service.
National Allergy's patient product guide has become extremely well known and is widely used by allergy, asthma, and sinus physicians nationwide. Our product guide is still how doctors know us best, but patients know us for our personal, caring service and refreshingly complete satisfaction. From our beginning in 1988 as a company to serve the needs of local doctors' patients, we have grown to become one of the largest companies of our kind in the nation. And we are still working to earn your trust, one satisfied patient at a time. We are pleased to have gained the trust of so many doctors, and we believe we will continue to find ways to improve our products and services. That's why the future is exciting to all of us who now have a personal ownership in this growing company and why we will never stop looking for ways to serve allergy, asthma and sinusitis patients with excellence.

One man's vision: How Oreck made clean easy
Founded by David Oreck in 1963, Oreck Corporation began as a manufacturer of upright vacuum cleaners for the U.S. hotel industry. Today the company produces and sells vacuums, steam mops, floor machines, air purifiers and cleaning products for use in both hotels and homes throughout the U.S., Canada and parts of Europe.

David Oreck had an obvious yet radical idea: design a lightweight yet powerful vacuum to relieve the drudgery felt by hotel housekeepers using the much heavier models then available to them. The idea proved so successful that today more than 50,000 hotels throughout the world use commercial-grade Oreck vacuums. Naturally, hotel staff wanted to buy these vastly improved vacuum cleaners for their own use at home. And so, David's original idea evolved: Oreck Corporation began selling its unique products to residential consumers as well.

Oreck has earned its reputation for making the finest vacuums available. That singular, consumer-satisfying goal continues to drive Oreck: to provide easy-to-use, lightweight, and durable vacuums and other cleaning tools ? each with exceptional power ? for every room in the house.

The Oreck Legacy: Still Leading the Way
Born near Duluth, Minnesota, David Oreck started his career at RCA following World War II where he helped introduce and market several new products to the American public ? including the washing machine, the microwave oven, and black-and-white and color televisions. He left RCA in 1963 to form Oreck Corporation. I had a good idea, a lot of energy, and no money, says the entrepreneur who nevertheless pushed forward, driven by his belief in Winston Churchill's maxim, Never, never, never give up.

David Oreck has had a lifelong interest in aviation, he joined the United States Army Air Forces at the age of 17 and flew combat missions during World War II. Today, David remains active in aviation, maintaining and flying his personal collection of vintage aircraft, while Oreck Corporation focuses on continuing to exceed its customers' expectations, bringing innovation to the marketplace and raising the bar for the homecare industry.

What does that mean for the Oreck legacy of excellence?
For decades, the Oreck family of consumers has expressed their affinity for the benefits of owning an Oreck, often telling us I have an Oreck? I love my Oreck! We hear you ? and that's why we're committed to making products that make cleaning just a little bit easier for all our customers!

The company's principal manufacturing facilities are based in Cookeville, Tenn.

Our candles are hand poured and
hand crafted by, Krista and Mark
Webber, in the state of Idaho, USA.
We have been making candles since
2002. We have made an extra effort to
purchase our raw materials, when
possible, from companies that make
them in the USA.
Also, we are continuing to produce all
our candles using 100% natural soy
wax and produce a candle line that is
100% natural using essential oils.
This is our From Nature Candle
Collection. We use non-metal wicks
and use a glass tumbler that you can
clean out and use as a drinking glass
for your home. Re-purposing at its
best!
We have arranged our candles into
four candle lines: Pauper's Traditional
Candle Line, Signature Candle Line,
From Nature Candle Collection, and
Herb N' Garden Line. Each candle
line features a set of unique scents.
Each scent in each candle line comes
in a 7oz boxed candle and an air

own packaging to set it apart. We are
very excited about our candle lines
and know you will find a scent to fit
you.
We are currently living in Sandpoint,
Idaho and seeing our 17 year old
dream coming to a reality, being debt
free, living a simple life on our own
land, and living off-grid. Yes, our
candles are made from free energy
from the sun! When one is in control
of their world and the world is not
controlling you, then one is truly free.
We decided long ago that since our
chosen professions do not produce
large or even medium incomes, we
then want to live in what we think is a
beautiful area. We lived in Pacific
City, OR on the coast, in Mitchell, OR
in the high plains dessert and now in
Northern Idaho in the middle of trees
with a beautiful lake at our cities
edge. We are truly blessed!
